Due to the handmade nature of W/R/F products, colors and sizes vary between production batches. These include variations in the materials as well as the making processes. Before placing your order, please carefully review our guide below to better understand variations in our products that we deem acceptable.
W/R/F ceramic pieces are made from stoneware clay that has natural minerals including free iron that can appear as dark spots on the ceramics. Our aesthetic allows for a minimal amount of small iron spots. Large iron spots are unacceptable and marked as 2nd quality and sold at a discounted price.
During the glazing process, plates are handled with tongs. The marks left behind by the tongs are a natural part of W/R/F aesthetics.
Occasionally, circular forms (bowls, plates, cups/mugs, pitchers/creamers/vases) shift during the firing process. W/R/F’s aesthetic embraces mild shifting of the form. Excessive shifting is marked as 2nd quality and sold at a discounted price.
The level of the lip on forms can shift during the firing process. We accept subtle shifting. Excessive shifting is marked as 2nd quality and sold at a discounted price.
The two middle plates are slightly lighter in color than the others. All plates pictured are made with the same glaze color. These subtle color differences are acceptable. The slight variance in form between each plate is also acceptable.
Streaks and drip marks naturally appear with Mustard, Wreath, and Ash glazes.
